About

Hello and welcome to Dish with Judy – my new blog with recipes, stories, and some reviews of places I’ve been. I am a freelance writer and social media manager in Brampton, Ontario. I love discovering local gems with my food-obsessed friends and then I want everyone to know about it because I can’t keep anything I love a secret. I started a YouTube channel, yes, me! I’ve been meeting so many amazing entrepreneurs that I had to have a chat with them and put them on my blog to encourage everyone to shop local and support these small businesses.

I’ve led a very quiet and safe life. I got my degree, worked at some great companies, got married and had children. I’m still happily married, the children are now launched, then I got laid off. I took on some freelance work so that I had the flexibility to travel with my husband for his work, and to do things I love, such as write my children’s book, do volunteer work, and bake. Travelling with my husband to the U.S., Asia and Europe to food shows, I was thoroughly enjoying my new normal. Then 2020 came with a newer normal – a lockdown. Trying to stay safe and healthy during the Covid-19 pandemic, it was time to get things done. So I started this blog.

Although I enjoys baking, I’m starting to find a passion in cooking as I work on developing Asian-inspired dishes from my childhood. I remember the big feasts that my Mom and Grandmother made at the family gatherings. Unfortunately, there are no recipes written down, so I will experiment until I get it close enough. it’s hard to uphold all the Chinese traditions of my parents, being first generation born in Canada but I want the next generation (my sons, nieces and nephews) to have the recipes and the memories to pass on to their children. This is my why.

You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
